Easier, Breezier summer/autumn days.

I found a whole lot of out of date Portra film in my cupboard. Shooting becomes a mystery but who I snap doesn't - so many loved ones on fishing adventures, house parties, swimming catch ups, overnight getaways, road-trips and of course the beautiful Patterson building.  What a summer indeed.

Easy Breezy Summer Days

Finally I have found some time to revisit my pre-loved cameras. Using some old film from a long gone housemate I reset my joy for photography. I photographed what I loved and waited excitedly for the results. Half of the images lack sharpness and certainly are dark in places but wonderfully thats not what I was focusing on.

Shot on Portrait 400 ( expired 2008) using Canon AE-1 and Nikon FE 2.

Normanton - Indigenous Hip Hop Projects

Last Sunday after a rather large Grand Final party at our house we mopped the floor and Tim Hillier & I hopped on a plane headed for Brisbane 24 later we arrived in Normanton with a dance crew from Indigenous Hip Hop Productions.

IHHP works on the principal of using the ‘arts for change’, focusing on Indigenous young people’s strengths, developing their skills and attitudes and working closely with partners to support community development.

Tim and I spent three days making a short doco about the young people of Normanton. It certainly was a big adventure that culminated in a screening at the twerkin mayhem "blue light disco" on Friday night.

Here are some behind the scenes photographs featuring some legends we met along the way.
Lookout for the video soon.  Ps. Click on images to make larger.

Geoff O'Connor lights up the studio.

Melbourne artist Geoff O'Connor is a favorite of mine so it was about time we worked together.
Geoff popped into the Patterson building for a photo session a  He came prepared and willing for anything. We had a fun day experimenting with some old light gels I had discovered in an old photo kit from my Uni days.
