An Ode to Patti & Robert

During my trip to New York, I organized a fashion shoot in ode to my idol Patti Smith and her dear friend and once lover Robert Mapplethorpe. I have always been inspired by Patti's confident style, constant energy and pure genius.

Robert Mapplethorpe was and always will be a huge influence on who Patti is as an artist and modern day icon. Their friendship is celebrated and revered for its creativity and passion, the ultimate kindred spirits. Patti Smith recently wrote an amazing book Just Kids that explores her time with Robert. Go read it.

We shot in a gorgeous home in Chelsea and then headed to the Chelsea Hotel; home to Patti and Robert during the late 60's and early 70's.

The crew worked tirelessly and with incredible enthusiasm. Stylist Katharine Polk produced the most amazing collection of gowns, shoes and magically.. a scarf designed by Mapplethorpe !! It was really amazing day that I will not forget!
